The parable of two foundations

Matthew 7:24-29 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Here, Lord Jesus said that everyone who hears his words and puts them into practice is like a wise man building a house on a rock. Anyone who hears his words and does not put them into practice is like a follish person who builds a house on the sand. What does the rock represent here? The rock represents Lord Jesus. What does rain, water, and wind represent? It represents the storm and the trial in life. If we often put his words into practice, then we build our foundation on Lord Jesus and have a solid relationship with the Lord Jesus. When the storm or the trial comes, we can rely on the Lord to stand firm and not fall. If you don’t practice Lord’s words, we will fall when you face the storm or the trial.

Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; (Mark 12:10)
This is a prophecy quoted from the Old Testament. Here the stone refers to Lord Jesus. The Old Testament prophesied that Lord Jesus is the stone the builders rejected and has become the cornerstone. Lord Jesus was rejected and crucified on the cross. He was resurrected three days later and becomes the chief corner stone and become our foundation.

whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” (John 14:21)
Here Lord Jesus said that if we obey his commands, we love him, and those who love him will be loved by the Father and by Lord Jesus, and Lord Jesus will manifests himself to us, we can experience the presence of the Lord. To have the Lord’s presence and to have an intimate relationship with the Lord is to build the foundation on the rock, on Lord Jesus.
May God bless you and your family. 😊
