John 10:22-29 22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
The Festival of Dedication is a Jewish holiday. The festival commemorates the Jewish retake of Jerusalem from the Syrian Seleucid King Antiochus IV under the leadership of the Maccabees and the re-dedication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem to God. The festival is usually at the end of November or December.
During the Festival of Dedication, the Lord Jesus was walking under Solomon’s Colonnade in the temple courts, and the Jews came to ask him to tell them directly whether he was the Christ. The Lord Jesus told them, but they did not believe. The works, the miracles Jesus did in God the Father’s name testified about him, God the Father, John the Baptist, and the Old Testament also testified about him, but they still did not believe, because they were not the Lord’s sheep, the Lord’s sheep hear the Lord’s voice, they also follow the Lord, and the Lord knows them and give them Eternal life, Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus the Good Shepherd takes care of the sheep and protects them, Heavenly Father God is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from his hand, from the Lord Jesus’ hand.
May God bless you and your family. 🙏😀
