John 9 ¹³ They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. ¹⁴ Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. ¹⁵ Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.” ¹⁶ Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided. ¹⁷ Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.” ¹⁸ They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. ¹⁹ “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?” ²⁰ “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. ²¹ But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” ²² His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. ²³ That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” ²⁴ A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.” ²⁵ He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” ²⁶ Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” ²⁷ He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?” ²⁸ Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! ²⁹ We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.” ³⁰ The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. ³¹ We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. ³² Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. ³³ If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” ³⁴ To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.

The Lord Jesus healed the man who was born blind on the Sabbath, some Pharisees thought that the Lord Jesus didn’t keep the Sabbath, so they concluded that he was not from God. They also did not believe that the man was born blind, so they asked his parents, his parents confirmed that he was born blind, but dared not to say that Jesus healed him, because the Jews had agreed that if anyone confessed that Jesus was the Christ, would be put out of the synagogue. The synagogue is the place where the Jews gather, and being put out of the synagogue is a very serious matter. The Pharisees called the blind man again, not only did they not believe that Jesus was the Christ, but also they thought that he was a sinner who did not keep the Sabbath and did not keep the law. When the blind man proved again that Jesus opened his eyes and did the thing that no one ever did, they still did not believe that Jesus came from God. John 9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. ² His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” ³ “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. ⁴ As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. ⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. ⁷ “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. ⁸ His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” ⁹ Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” ¹⁰ “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. ¹¹ He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” ¹² “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.

When the Lord Jesus saw a man born blind, his disciples asked him who had sinned, whether it was him or his parents. The Lord Jesus said “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,”  this is to display the works of God in him. According to the Bible, some sickness caused by sin, and some are not. This blind man was healed to reveal the work of God. The Lord Jesus said “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me, Night is coming, when no one can work.” the Lord Jesus worked during the day, when the night comes, no one can work. We should also work during the day, during our lifetime, use the opportunity to do the work the Lord entrusted to us. The way the Lord Jesus healed the blind man was very special, he made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes, then asked him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. He was healed and blessed because he believed and obeyed. The Lord Jesus heals different people in different ways. Thank and praise the Lord. May God bless you and your family. 🙏😀

John 8:45-59 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” 48 The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?” 49 “I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. 50 I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.” 52 At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?” 54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” 57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” 58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

The Lord Jesus told the truth to the Jews and performed many miracles. The Jews did not believe that he was the Christ and even wanted to kill Him. The Lord Jesus said that because they did not belong to God and therefore did not listen to God’s words, the Jews said that he was a Samaritan and was possessed by a demon. Saying that he was a Samaritan means that he was an enemy of the Israelites, at that time there was no association between the Jews and the Samaritans. To say that a man of God is demon-possessed is a great sin, a sin of blasphemy. The Lord Jesus glorified God and did not seek his own glory, God the Father glorified him, but the Jews dishonored him because they did not know God and had no good relationship with God. The Lord Jesus emphasized that if people keep His word, they will never see death. The Jews thought he referred to the physical death, just like Abraham and all the prophets died. The Lord Jesus here was talking about the eternal life, that is, living forever, will not experience the second death, that is, the death of the soul. The Jews said, “Are you greater than our father Abraham?” The Lord Jesus was indeed greater than Abraham, and he said “before Abraham was born, I am!”, that is he exists before Abraham was born. He is the Son of God, who came down from heaven as a man, and is the Word manifested in the flesh. I hope that more people will come to know God, know the Son of God, and glorify him. To glorify the Son of God is to glorify God.

John 8:31-36 ³¹ So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you hold to my teaching, then you are truly My disciples; ³² and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” ³³ They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?” ³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. ³⁵ Now the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. ³⁶ So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.” 

The Lord Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you hold to my teaching, then you are truly My disciples” Here we see that believe alone is not enough. If one holds to the Lord’s teaching, obey his words, then he is truly the disciples of the Lord, he will know the truth, and the truth will set him free. After the Jews heard this and said, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone.” Abraham was the ancestor of the Jews and the father of faith. The Jews understood freedom from the flesh. At that time, those who were slaves had no freedom, The Lord Jesus here is talking about the spiritual freedom, that is, to free from sin, from the bondage of sin, the power of sin, and the guilt of sin. The Lord Jesus said: “Truly, truly I say to you: all who sin are the slaves of sin.” When the Lord Jesus wanted to emphasize the important truth, he said, “Truly, truly I say to you,” everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin, When a person confesses his sins, repents, and turns to the Lord, the Lord forgives his sins, he is a new creation, free from the bondage of sin, and the Son of God sets him free, he is truly free, and he belongs to the house of God, he remains in the house of God forever.
that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. (Romans 8:21)
Now the creation is under bondage to decay. When the Lord Jesus returns, he will reign on the earth for a thousand years, the world will be at peace, and the creation will be brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

John 8:21-30 21 Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.” 22 This made the Jews ask, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, ‘Where I go, you cannot come’?” 23 But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.” 25 “Who are you?” they asked. “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus replied. 26 “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.” 27 They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. 28 So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. 29 The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” 30 Even as he spoke, many believed in him.

Here the Lord Jesus said to the Jews, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”
The Lord Jesus prophesied that he would leave the world, go to heaven, go to the paradise. That is he would die on the cross, ressucrected three days later, then went to heaven. They could not find him, they would die in their sin, and they would not be able to go where he went.
Jesus went on to say “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.”
The Lord Jesus came from heaven. He does not belong to this world. He belongs to heaven and would return to heaven. They are of this world, if they did not believe that he was the Christ, and rejected him as the Christ, they would die in their sins.
The Lord Jesus said, “But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.”
God the Father sent the Lord Jesus into the world. The Lord Jesus told the world what he heard from the Father. The Father was with him. He did what the Father wanted him to do, he always did what pleased God the Father.
The Lord Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he,”
To lift up the Son of Man is to lift him up on the cross, that is, he would be crucified on the cross. The Lord Jesus said these words, and many people believed in him. When he was crucified on the cross and resurrected three days later, many people knew that he was the Christ, the Savior.
I hope more people will believe that he is the Christ, come to him, to receive salvation, and walk on the path to the kingdom of heaven.

John 8:37-44 37 ³⁷ I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. ³⁸ I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.” ³⁹ “Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do what Abraham did. ⁴⁰ As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. ⁴¹ You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.” ⁴² Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. ⁴³ Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. ⁴⁴ You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 

Abraham is the father of faith, he loves God and obeys Him, The Jews are the descendants of Abraham, but they wanted to kill the Lord Jesus because they have no room for his word. They are the descendants of Abraham in the flesh, but not in the spirit. The Lord Jesus was sent by God the Father, and the truth he spoke came from the Father, but the Jews wanted to kill him. The Lord Jesus said that they did what they heard from their father the devil. The devil was a fallen angel, a murderer from the beginning, the father of lies. The devil wanted to kill the Lord Jesus and deceived the Jews, the Lord Jesus said that the Jews carried out the devil’s desires. The Jews said that God was their Father. If God were their Father, they would love the Lord Jesus whom God sent and accept His teaching, not only did they not accept, but also they wanted to kill him, so they did not belong to God. I hope that more people will believe in the Lord Jesus, accept his teaching, obey Him, and walk on the path to the kingdom of heaven. The Bible says that apart from the Lord Jesus, salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

John 8:12-20 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.” 14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.” 19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?” “You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.

The Lord Jesus said: I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The Lord Jesus is the light of the world, in him there is no darkness. Those who follow him will not walk in darkness, will not live in sin, but will have the light of life, walk on the path of life, walk on the path of eternal life.
The Lord Jesus said: I know where I came from and where I am going.
The Lord Jesus came from heaven, came into the world as a man, then returned to heaven. He will come again soon to take us back to our heavenly home.
It is also written in the Old Testament Law that the testimony of two witnesses is true. (Deuteronomy 19:15) The Lord Jesus testified himself, and God the Father testified for him. When he was baptized, a voice from heaven said, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. The prophecies of the Old Testament testify of the Lord Jesus, the miracles performed by the Lord Jesus testify for him, and John the Baptist also testified for him.
The Lord Jesus said: If you knew me, you would know my Father also.
God is Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus is the Son, He was with the Father in the beginning, He was the Word incarnated. Jesus said: Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father (John 14:9) If one knows the Lord Jesus, he would know God the Father also.

John 8:1-11 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Here we see that the Lord Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning he returned to the temple, and all the people went to him to listen to his teaching. The scribes and Pharisees came to Jesus with a woman who had been caught in adultery, and said to him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They said this to tempt Jesus to accuse him. According to Old Testament law: If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10) The scribes and Pharisees brought only the adulteress and not the adulterer in order to accuse Jesus, Jesus knew everything and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” They left one by one. In fact, their sins were very great, they wanted to accuse Jesus. The Lord Jesus is sinless and can condemn this woman, but He said, “Then neither do I condemn you, Go now and leave your life of sin.” The Lord Jesus came to the world not to condemn, but to save, to save those who repent. The Lord Jesus does not look at the sins committed by an old man or old life, and gives people the opportunities to repent. If a person is willing to repent and leave the life of sin, He will forgive him and give him a new life.

John 7:45-52 45 Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?” 46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied. 47 “You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted. 48 “Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.” 50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked, 51 “Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?” 52 They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee.”

The Pharisees was a Jewish sect that strictly followed the tradition and the rituals of the Old Testament law. The Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest the Lord Jesus, and the temple guards came back empty-handed. The Pharisees asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?” The temple guards replied, “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” They heard the truth of Lord Jesus’ teaching, and they did not lay hand on him. The Pharisees said, “Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? ” The Bible mentions that there were rulers and Pharisees believed in him. Nicodemus mentioned later was also a Pharisee, and he believed in the Lord Jesus. The Pharisees continued, “But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.” The Pharisees thought that the people did not know the law, only they knew the law, the Pharisees were self-righteous. Nicodemus said, “Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?” Nicodemus once came to the Lord Jesus at night, and he saw the miracles the Lord Jesus performed, and he believed that he was a teacher sent by God, and the Lord Jesus told him about regeneration. Nicodemus was right, even the law of the civilized nation allows defendant to give deference. The Pharisees said: “Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee”. The Pharisees were wrong again. The Old Testament prophets Elijah, Jonah, and Nahum were all from Galilee. Even if the prophets didn’t come from Galilee, it does not mean that prophets will never come from Galilee. In fact the Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem, but grew up in Galilee. The Pharisees condemned Jesus without investigation. I hope more people will come to know the Lord who loves the people in the world and can give new life to the people.

John 7:37-44 ³⁷ On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. ³⁸ Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” ³⁹ By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. ⁴⁰ On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” ⁴¹ Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? ⁴² Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” ⁴³ Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. ⁴⁴ Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

The Lord Jesus said: Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.
Here the Lord Jesus talked about the spiritual thirst, he talked about the Holy Spirit those who believe in him will receive, the Holy Spirit is water, the living water, the rivers of living water will flow from the heart of those who believe.
but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. (John 4:14)
After a person believes in the Lord, he receives the Holy Spirit, he receives the water, the living water given by the Lord Jesus, he will no longer be thirsty, this living water will become in them, in their hearts a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. (Isaiah 44:3)
This is what God told the Israelites in the Old Testament, He would pour out water on the thirsty, pour out the Holy Spirit on their descendants and bless them.
When the people heard this, some said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Messiah.”
The Prophet is the Prophet prophesied by Moses in the Old Testament. The Old Testament also prophesied the coming of Christ, the Messiah. Some people did not know that the Prophet here also refers to Christ.
Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?”
The Old Testament of the Bible prophesied that Christ would be born in Bethlehem, Matthew 2 tells us that the Lord Jesus grew up in Nazareth of Galilee. These people thought that Jesus was born in Galilee, so they doubted that he was the Christ, the Messiah.
¹⁰ But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. ¹¹ Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11)
When the Lord Jesus was born, an angel appeared to the shepherds and told them the good news, saying that the Savior, the Messiah, the Lord had been born in the city of David, Bethlehem. Thank the Lord, may God bless you and your family. 🙏😀
