John 10:7-10 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Here the sheep represents believers, Christians. Lord Jesus said that he is the door of the sheep. What does it mean? Later, he said that he is the door, and those who enter through him will be saved. That is to say, he is the door of salvation, the door to heaven, and only through him we can be saved. Here it says that he is the door, not a door. Before the word door is the definite article, which means that he is the only door of salvation, not just one of the doors. Besides Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
From the context, we know that the thieves mentioned here refer to the Pharisees, who wanted to steal, kill, and destroy. They even wanted to kill Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd. The sheep follow the shepherd and listen to the voice of the shepherd, the shepherd leads the sheep to good pastures. Lord Jesus have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. A life with the presence of God, a life with of the Lord’s presence, the life of peace and joy.
May God bless you and your family. 😀
